08:37 ET – US benchmark oil prices climb 1.8% to $67.69 a barrel, while the global benchmark Brent jumps 1.5% to $70.04 as they try to bounce back from nearly 4% declines over the past two sessions. “Crude is higher ahead of today’s [weekly] API Oil inventory data, which we see showing more drawdowns,” says Peter Cardillo at Spartan Capital. “In fact, we reiterate; from a fundamental view point, the price of oil is very oversold and should soon regain its upward trend.” Ahead of the API report, markets will also watch this morning for EIA’s monthly Short Term Energy Outlook.
