August 25, 2022Treasury yields have a mixed performance, with the 10-year rising 0.018 percentage points to 3.053%, while the two-year falls 0.031pp to 3.304%. The inverted spread shrinks to 0.251pp, the narrowest since July. Spartan’s Peter Cardillo says the narrowing gap is “a sign that the backup in the recent rise [in] yields has reached a near term top.” Meanwhile, dismal home sales data supports the notion that a slowing economy could soften monetary tightening. Jackson Hole starts tomorrow and investors are poised to watch for indications of how hawkish the Fed is going to be.
